New Year coming

A new year is coming and I hope life is good.  I don't have many thoughts or ponderings.  Please send comments and thoughts.  I will try to come up with more. soon.

Civics?!

Are we really a Failing Nation?  Here is a Civics Quiz.  They say that the average score is less than 50% even with college grads.  Not that I'm perfect, but come on people!  We should know this stuff!!  The people trying to come into our country know more about our history than we do.  That is sad.  There was an article in the Tampa Tribune about this with a link to the quiz.  

(I got 81% on it, not great but better than average!)  Of course I should ace it, since I teach some of that stuff.  We should be proud to be Americans and therefore know our history!!  If we don't, it can easily be taken away from us!!! Knowledge can never be taken away if you hold on to it!!! 

books

I love books!  I just love the idea of knowledge, information and dreams in a little package thrills me.  I feel smarter just owning them, even if I don't get them read all the way.  So, needless to say I love going to Barnes & Nobles, Borders or Books a million!  It is like an oasis! Life is good!!! =)

a Band-aid won't fix it

I miss the days when I could fix everything with a Band-aid and a kiss!!!  I have a darling young lady that I wish I could put a Band-aid on and make it all better.  It is soooo hard to know what to say and do to help teenagers.  I am always at a loss.  I want to help make her get better!! I know it was had with my son, too!  Say a prayer for my little darling!  =)

Nobody Listens!!!

Wow, nobody listens!! I give detailed directions, type them up, include a rubric  and nobody reads it!!! So I spent today re-explaining the project they are supposed to have been working on and almost done with.  I may have to pull out what little hair I have!! It is a good thing I love my job and I love them.  So, in the end life is good.  

It is really good to be back in front of the class! Again, I love my job!!  I am lucky!  

I hope you all are just as happy in your jobs and lives!!! 

Oh, and I bet my son in darts,  Again!!!  Boy, that really makes my evening!  What a great day!

Back to work

Well, tomorrow is back to work! My intern is done and it is back to "The Altshuler Show".  I love teaching and I love my kids.  Middle School is wonderful!!! There is never a dull moment!

Movies

I saw the James Bond movie.  It was good.  He is not bad as Bond.  I don't know if he is as good a Sean Connery, but not bad.  Lots of action.  

I love to go to the movies.  

Cars

Well, it seems that we have really bad luck with cars.  My son got in a wreck and I have been his driver for awhile now.  We just got his car back and the wiper fluid holder dropped down and is causing problems with left turns.  So, back to the shop.  My car was in for maintenance and one week latter the axle went.  I have only had the car 2 months.  This was a real drag.  It cost a bunch of money that we don't have.  I don't think there is a good place to buy a car anywhere.  You can not trust anyone!  

Twilight Craze

Sooo, have you read the Twilight series????? How about the movie??? I loved the books!  I think they are great.  I also read (well, listened on CD) to the Host.  I liked the this one too.  I think it is facinating the absolute frenzy over these books! I can not keep them on my shelf.  At least they have kids reading (similar to the Harry Potter series, but does not seem to be having as much resistance)  I remember reading Interview with a Vampire and loving it!!! And then the movie, ahh.  

What is it about Vampires?  Why do you think we are sooooo facinated with & drawn to  them?

My First

Well, hello and welcome.  I will attempt to write on here every so often my random thoughts and ponderings.  

Here is a story for you, the nick name KatieRay came about because about a year ago I went to my friend's beach house on Dog Island, Florida and stepped on a stingray! This was by far the most painful thing I have ever experienced! Yep, even worse than giving birth!  It caused me to cuss like a sailor!!!  So, they haven't stopped calling me KatieRay since!
